Today I’m gonna keep on walking/ I’m gonna hold my head up high/ I’m gonna leave it all behind/ Today I’m gonna stand out in the rain/ Let it wash it all away/ I’m gonna let it go
This evening as I was driving back to Salt Lake from Orem, the Tim McGraw song "Let It Go" song came on the radio. The chorus is one that always sticks with me even after all of the verses leave. For me, this is one of the songs I like to listen to when I'm feeling very stagnant. Today, I realized that I'm being very stagnant. It feels like I'm just moving through the day to day with very little motivation other than to make it to the end of the day and the end of the semester. I see our semester winding down very quickly and I'm scrambling to stay afloat, and my water wings have been pierced with senioritis.
But it isn't just school that is making me stagnate, though it is a large piece of it. The start of the semester saw me working out almost every day, and generally being healthier. As the semester has deteriorated, so has my motivation to go do anything besides stay in and warm and catch up on sleep and homework and generally just laze about. The problem is that Hawaii is coming up insanely soon. I've been swimming, so I know my tankini looks alright, but, vainly, I want to be able to wear my bikini out to the beach without feeling and looking like a beached whale. That is not attractive. So, starting in the morning, I'm gonna leave it all behind, and start hardcore making it back to the gym or pool and eating smaller healthier portions.
I'd like to enlist your help in this. Don't offer me sweets or desserts, and call me to go to the gym together. The weather is getting nice enough now that we can go hiking and walking outside sometimes. I know we're all crazy busy with school and finals, but we all need more exercise and a break. Let's make our breaks healthy and fun instead of being lazy and wasting money on treats and coffee.
Together, let's all walk forward and let go of some of our bad habits. For me, I'm starting with junk food and laziness. Looking hot this summer will be my reward :D
